Sanc-tu-ary - "A Place of Refuge"
As defined by Webster, so was the dream of our forebears.
Our history is one of pure "Americana." As immigrant stockmen and farmers
from Europe, our earliest ancestors landed in the northeast when that land
was raw wilderness. As quintessential adventures, these buckskin-clad
westerners began pusing southward and westward, first to the new lands of
western Kentucky and Tennessee. Learning along the way from the
agricultural tribes of Indians, to grow the native crops of corn, squahs
and beans. This complimented their passion and knowledge of livestock.
These pioneers, with the tenacity and courage that was thier birthright,
began the age-old battle for the rights to claim these land's bounties.
The rich soil of this land was stained again and again by the spilled
blood of red man and white. But through sheer determination and the will
of God, our family was able to gain a foothold in this new land. Thus
giving birth to teh "Sanctuary."
Each generation began pushing westward in its own turn, onto new and more
challenged ground. To Arkansas, to Missouri, to Oklahoma, and then to
Texas. Transcending from generation to generation, family to family, with
each, diversifying, pioneering, and finding their own niche, but always
deeply rooted in agriculture; horses, cattle, timber, and row crops.
Today, with interests in Arkansas and Texas, we carry on that pioneering
spirit with the determination and pride that is the essence of "The
Sanctuary Ranches". |
